MLKP Turkey/Kurdistan
The Black Sea is honored by its revolutionary children!
Comrade Zafer Aydin is immortal!
Year: 2024
N° 7
The Black Sea, where revolutionary vanguards such as Mustafa Suphi and Mahir Çayan were born and in whose womb thousands of militants and hundreds of cadres such as Fikri Sönmez and Ayfer Celep, Mustafa Özenç and Fatma Hülya Tümgan, Kemal Pir and Abdullah Özcan, Aydan Ezgi Şalcı and Osman Nuri Ocaklı were raised, bid farewell to another revolutionary son into eternity. Comrade Zafer Aydın, MLKP member, guerrilla of the Kurdistan Organization and commander of the Alişer Deniz Brigade, was immortalized in the village of Êrîşa at the Til Temir front in Rojava.
Comrade Zafer Aydın, who was known as Dîlşer Rênas in his life and struggle in the Medya Defense Zones and Rojava, received his name as a party member from the two steadfast revolutionaries from the Black Sea, comrades Cihan Alptekin and Fikri Sönmez. He became the Cihan Sönmez of his party.
What he learned about the resistance in the torture prison defeating the enemy and death of comrade Süleyman Yeter became a strong mental and moral strength for comrade Zafer to build himself as the party member, guerrilla fighter and red commander Cihan Sönmez. The decisive step he took in this direction was to be a part of the young communist river that flowed to Suruç/Pirsûs in order to overcome the colonial borders and reach Kobanê. The Suruç/Pirsûs massacre and the Ankara train station massacre on October 10, which he witnessed, strengthened Comrade Zafer’s belief in the correctness of the Party’s positions and his desire to follow its call.
As a survivor of Suruç/Pirsûs, he turned to the free areas in order to provide a stable foundation for his revolutionary nature. In his personal development report to the command of Hüseyin Demircioğlu Academy on 14 December 2018, he said the following: “One of the main reasons why I wanted to join the military work was to develop myself and reorganize my revolutionary spirit to a new level. I was determined to become a revolutionary, but it was an empty determination, my understanding of being a revolutionary was not based on solid ground (…) It was an understanding that was not based on the party line, the organization, the people and included patriarchal views and individualism. Both my personality and, related to this, my relation to the struggle began to atrophy. I either had to take a leap from where I was, or I would have merged with the ruling order. I had to make a decision, and I did.
I overcame huge walls that had been erected with three-meter-high German wires to get to Rojava. It was a great revolution for me, but I was only at the beginning of the road. (…) The stories of comrades who had gone through the process in the mountains and had been trained at the Hüseyin Demircioğlu Academy, as well as the reports on the personal development of fallen comrades, were very formative for me. Now I was to begin a process of change and transformation, and I was ready for it. (…) My personal characteristics and social gender roles created strong resistance to my change and transformation.”
Viewing his reality with such a clear consciousness played a very important role in overcoming his subjective and objective obstacles to change, transformation and the accumulation of qualities.
In the spring of 2018, he was at the Hüseyin Demircioğlu Academy, where he underwent training and took on various tasks. From physical labor that required a great deal of overcoming to tasks on the war front that required the most advanced forms of sacrifice, he embarked on a path that put what he had accumulated into practice. He worked building caves. In order to specialize in it, he received special training in cave construction. He strengthened his preparation for the revolutionary tasks he was to take on by training in automatic firearms. He took part in the resistance in Garê, where the bloody colonialist plans of the fascist chief regime were destroyed. He took part in the construction of combat positions for terrain defense. He spent four very difficult years at the academy under wartime conditions. He followed the path from Zafer Aydın to Dîlşer Rênas and from there to Cihan Sönmez.
After four years at the Hüseyin Demircioğlu Academy, he went to Rojava as a Turkish communist born in Ladik, Samsun, and as a red partisan of our united revolution to shoulder the struggle against the colonial occupiers and collaborating fascist gangs, to defend the revolution and to participate in its construction. In the report he wrote after arriving in the field emphasizing his mistakes and shortcomings in the academy process, it was said: “I have thought a lot about all this (during the long journey), I can say that I have come a long way and that I will muster the will to regain a development momentum. I have faith in myself and in my comrades. I am not a person who is hiding himself. At worst, it will take a month at most to get to know me and recognize my shortcomings.”
Comrade Cihan Sönmez/Dîlşer Rênas developed his practice on the basis of these words. He took part in the Martyr Alişer Deniz Brigade and assumed the responsibility of a commander. He improved his Kurdish and endeavored to learn Arabic. He took on tasks as a scout, guerrilla and coordinator of actions against enemy positions and headquarters in the areas around Til Temir, which were under fascist colonial occupation. He volunteered as commander of an infiltration operation against enemy positions. In response to the assassination of comrade Osman Nuri Ocaklı in Kobanê, he showed the initiative for a vanguard commando raid against the collaborating fascist gangs composed of mercenaries of the colonial occupation in the village of Êrîşa on the Til Temir front. Comrade Cihan, who became immortal in the raid in which six fascist collaborators hostile to the freedom, equality and fraternity of the peoples of Syria and Rojava were killed, became a flag as the representative of the honour of the Turkish people, the face of the Black Sea youth which is to be poisoned and dehumanized by the enemy with racism and chauvinism.
The revolutionary call of comrade Cihan Sönmez/Dîlşer Rênas is addressed to workers, laborers, the poor, intellectuals, artists, all working, studying and unemployed youth of different nations, faiths, genders and sexual orientations, but above all to the Black Sea youth, the Turkish people’s youth:
Hatefully reject fascism, racism, chauvinism, patriarchy, homophobia, injustice and exploitation. Unite in the revolutionary ranks. Free yourselves. Rebuild yourselves. Take to the streets against the US, NATO and KDP-backed large-scale attack for the occupation and genocide that the fascist Turkish capitalist colonial state is preparing in the Medya Defense Zones and Rojava; against the US and NATO-backed colonialist war, occupation and genocide that the fascist Zionist Israeli state is carrying out in Gaza and Rafah. Take sides with the Kurdish and Palestinian people’s struggle for honor and freedom.
We invite all working and oppressed people, especially the youth, to follow the call of comrade Cihan Sönmez/Dîlşer Rênas, to organize, to join the struggle for freedom and socialism, to participate in the revolutionary work of MLKP on the line of the united revolution, to get involved in the KGÖ, KKÖ and FESK.
We promise once again in the face of our peoples, in memory of comrade Zafer Aydın/Dîlşer Rênas/Cihan Sönmez, that we will hold on to the work, ideals and memory of all young people, all workers, laborers, poor, artists who have fallen for the sake of freedom, justice and socialism, and that we will uphold their names, which are the symbols of their immortality, through the growth of the revolutionary struggle.

We will resist the occupation, we will defend the soil of Kurdistan
The fascist Turkish bourgeois colonial state, with the support of the KDP and the Iraqi government, is expanding its occupation attack on the territory of Bashurê Kurdistan (Southern Kurdistan). Our mountains are being bombed, our villages are being evacuated, our people are being forcibly relocated. A genocidal attack is being carried out with chemical weapons and tactical nuclear bombs.
The Turkish colonial state sees the centuries-old Ottoman dream as the basis for its invasion attacks. It is on its way to annexing the territory from Bashurê Kurdistan to Mosul and Kirkuk. The NATO countries, which recently came together and openly announced their intention to bring the world to the brink of World War III, support the genocidal policy and occupation of the Turkish state. The USA and the Western imperialists assign a special role in its Middle East axis to the Turkish bourgeois state, which is their financial-economic colony. Together with Israel, which continues its massacres in Palestine, the Turkish state is plunging the Middle East into a great chaos. While sowing the seeds of discord among the peoples, the ground is being prepared for the military base of the imperialist USA in the region.
The Turkish bourgeois state sees war and political chaos in the Middle East and North Africa as support for its goal of becoming a regional power. It is trying to exploit the contradictions between the imperialist USA and Russia. It is pursuing an expansionist strategy with the aim of becoming a regional political player. With a future vision of expanding its territory, it is trying to shift borders. Military bases are being established in the occupied territories from Afrin to Bradost. It stations the fascist political Islamist gangs he feeds and strengthens in the region and establishes a rule of colonial masters.
Fascist leader Tayyip Erdogan, who is planning a new Ottoman Empire, wants to push the borders of Misak-ı Milli. The oil reserves in the region are whetting his appetite. From Aleppo to Mosul and Kirkuk, he wants to realize his annexation scenario, which he could not realize with the ISIS gang, by deploying his own army forces. He is positioning the political Islamist ISIS gangs in Syria and the KDP Barzani family in Bashûrê Kurdistan as collaborators in his colonial plans.
The KDP-Barzani family has deepened the line of collaborationist betrayal. It has sold out the national liberation struggle and the freedom of the people of Bashurê Kurdistan for narrow family interests. It is jeopardizing the federal status of the region. It fills its coffers with the black money it collects from the oil of Bashurê Kurdistan and opens the gates of the Kurdish land to the occupiers. It turns a deaf ear to the calls of our patriotic people to stop cooperating with the colonialists. The KDP line, which reached out to the Turkish state, could not save its arm. Now the Barzanis degenerated into wanting to become a governor of colonialism. If the Turkish state gains full rule over Bashurê Kurdistan, they will not even have as much authority as the trustee of the Hakkari municipality, much less will they be able to maintain their bourgeois rule.
The only force resisting the occupation of Bashurê Kurdistan is the Kurdish freedom guerrilla. In Zap, Garê, Metîna, in the mountains of free Kurdistan, the patriotic and communist guerrilla forces have stopped the invaders with the line of self-sacrificing resistance. They prevented the occupying forces from advancing. The Turkish army, which suffered heavy losses every day, was unable to move without the support of the KDP and the Iraqi government. It therefore began to target the population of Bashurê Kurdistan. By bombing villages and besieging districts, the aim is to force the population to leave and to depopulate the region by setting up checkpoints on the roads.
The Turkish occupying state is trying to turn the Syrian and Iraqi states, which have been colonizing Kurdistan for years, into complicit in this plan. The weaknesses of the governments in Baghdad and Damascus, which want to regain their power as sovereign states, are to be united in the Turkish states policy of hostility towards the Kurds and turned into its reserve. The Assad regime, which is trying to survive in Syria, is offered cooperation for the liquidation attacks against the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. The fascist Turkish state wants to form a colonialist alliance against our women’s revolution in Rojava. To this end, it invites the regime in Damascus, with which it has established military and intelligence cooperation, to the negotiating table in order to force it to divide the East and West of the Euphrates. The main goal of the colonialist Turkish state is to liquidate the Autonomous Administration and occupy the areas of the revolution in Rojava. The fascist chief regime is taking its steps in line with the plan of annihilation and genocide.
On July 19, the 12th anniversary of the revolution in Rojava, the seeds of greater resistance and glorious victories will be planted. We defeated the colonialists and their gangs in Kobanê in a historic resistance at the cost of the lives of thousands of our people. We defeated them in Sinjar. We defeated them in Garê. Now another legend of resistance is being written in the mountains of Kurdistan.
With the epic resistance power of our people, we will expel the fascist Turkish colonial state from the revolutionary areas of Bashurê Kurdistan and Rojava. Our people in the four parts of Kurdistan must not remain silent in the face of the betrayal and collaborationist line of the KDP. They must put a stop to this insidious occupation complicity.
The guerrilla resistance must be strengthened through popular uprisings throughout Kurdistan. With the determined stance of our people and our guerrilla resistance, we will finally put an end to this colonialist war, which the fascist chief regime sees as a struggle for being or not being for itself. Our freedom guerrillas will draw strength from the strong popular actions against occupation and colonialism in Bakurê Kurdistan, Rojava, Turkey and the European metropolises and further strengthen their resistance.
The strength lies in our resistant patriotic people. The mountains of free Kurdistan, protected by the blood of thousands of martyrs, and our revolution in Rojava draw their strength from our patriotic people. The history of the liberation struggle of the oppressed peoples has shown that not everything depends on the will of the colonialists.
Now is the time again to start the Serhildan (Kurdish Intifada) for the freedom of Kurdistan and our people. Our people, who never shy away from paying the price, will play this historic role and bury the colonialists in the mountains of Kurdistan. The will of the resistance for honor and freedom will prevail.
We call on all our peoples in Turkey, Iraq and Syria, especially our laboring peoples of the ruling Turkish and Arab nations, to raise the struggle against these genocidal, occupying and colonialist attacks. As long as colonized Kurdistan is not free, no people will be free.
We call on all progressive, revolutionary parties and organizations, democratic mass organizations and dignified intellectuals in the four parts of Kurdistan and the region to stand up against this war and occupation.
This resistance, which draws its strength from its righteousness and its people, will absolutely, absolutely win. Either victory or victory!
Long live the women’s revolution of Rojava!
Long live our guerrilla resistance!
Long live the anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist, anti-colonialist united struggle of the peoples of the Middle East!
Long live the united free socialist Kurdistan!

The Economic Crisis of Imperialist Globalization
This contribution of MLKP Turkey / Kurdistan was presented at the International Theoretical Conference on the Economic Crisis of Imperialism of the NDFP in March 2024.
After the world economic crisis of 1974-75, global capitalism entered a qualitatively new phase: imperialist globalization (IG). The main features of this new stage are the offshoring of labor-intensive parts of production to the cheap labor force hells and in parallel creation of an integrated world market in which money and commodity capital circulate much more freely across borders. The emergence of a new type of colonialism is a characteristic feature of imperialist globalization. Today’s financial-economic colonialism is characterized by the restructuring of old and new colonies, i.e. weakening of state controls over economy, lifting of currency restrictions, minimization of the price of labor, promotion of privatization.
By reducing the Rate of Exploitation (s/v) by almost 30 times and selling at monopoly prices at home thanks to the overabundance of financial credits, imperialism has managed to create a tendency against the Law of the Tendency of the Rate of Profit to Fall (LTRPF) and has thus attempted to find a way to supersede the structural crisis. In other words, separating the geographies of production and its realization provides the opportunity of surplus-value transfer from financial-economic colonies to imperialist countries.
But since LTRPF is inevitable in the long run, The Great Recession of 2008-9 signaled the general crisis of IG. World capitalism has been in a waving depression for 15 years. Since then, profit rates have never been as high as before the crisis. Low rates of profit have led to a decline in the growth of investment and trade, and the growth rate of the profit mass has been stuck in the 2-3% band with no positive forecasts.
In the same period, we are witnessing the extraordinary development of Chinese capitalism. Once the largest production manufacturer of world capitalism, China has now also become one of the technological and financial superpowers threatening the US/EU hegemony in the markets. After the 2008-9 crisis, China has become less dependent on the export market and focused more on its domestic market. Rising wages make it no longer as cheap for US/EU imperialism to offshore the production.
The crisis of IG, together with the growing imperialist rivalry between US/EU and Chinese imperialism, is now creating a counter-current to the era of globalization and forcing protectionist tendencies, where offshoring tendencies are being partly replaced by cost-cutting reshoring and near-shoring strategies, aided by developments in artificial intelligence and robotics. This situation is pregnant with further tensions and contradictions with different political and economic consequences in the imperialist globalization phase.
Theoretically, a higher level of socialization of production than globalization requires an unprecedented degree of automatization (with AI and robotics), which implies an enormous increase in the organic composition of capital (c/v). But since the only source of profit is living labor (v), such a relative increase in constant capital (c) ultimately weakens the basis for creating and realizing surplus value. This is, in fact, why the imperialists have for decades refrained from adopting new technologies and used cheap labor. Protectionism must therefore be perceived today as a reactionary, short-term and ultimately hopeless countermeasure for the capitalists. This contradiction can only be resolved under socialism.
What seems more likely in the near future is an intensifying economic (near-shoring) and extra-economic (imperialist war) competition between the US/EU and China/Russia imperialist blocs to increase the transfer of net surplus value. This polarization leads to changeable relations and alliances among bourgeois states and affects the struggles. But in the long run the previous possibilities of the financial-economic colonies to take advantage of the contradictions between the imperialist blocs may reduce, and there may come a moment of decision on which side to cooperate with, both economically and extra-economically. Due to this polarizing trend, the most visible change in the world economy in recent years has been the increase in militarism and armaments. The effects on the world economy of the arms race, which accelerated after the war in Ukraine, have been fully exposed and have added an important element to our tasks of struggle in connection with the economic crisis.
In terms of domestic politics, fascism is still an “effective” tool for the bourgeoisies of both imperialist and financial-economic colonies. It allows the monopoly bourgeoisie to embrace both globalization and protectionism at the same time by casting the enemy as a vague, ambiguous “global elites/powers” instead of the real enemies, the repressive bourgeois states or imperialist capitalism.
Accordingly, neofascist currents do not expel migrant workers from society, but threaten them as internal enemies and work for the overexploitation of both migrant workers and domestic workers. Because in this way, the wage levels of native workers are kept dramatically low.
The hybrid of economic protectionism and globalization (near-shoring competition), the possibility of imperialist war and fascism can only be defeated through internationalism. Internationalism requires prior working class movement and politics.
To summarize, fascism is a great threat to the working class and toilers and is increasingly determining the subject of struggle. As a result of the development of capitalism in the world and the limits it has reached, under conditions where the rich-poor cleavage increases, the contradiction between the people and the state sharpens, in which the welfare state has been eliminated, the production of consent for the bourgeoisie has become extremely narrow, and social democracy has lost ground, the life of the working class and laborers is shaped by worries such as further impoverishment, inflation, rising cost of living. Women will be polarized in the struggle since the gender contradiction cannot be carried on and gender liberation requires social upheaval as a whole.
In this sense, it is among the main tasks of the Communist Parties to put the aspirations of the broad masses for a dignified life on the agenda, to make them the subject of struggle and to polarize them, both to revive the historically retreating working class movement and to wage war on xenophobic/racist/misogynist movements.
In addition, the workers and oppressed of all countries united have the task of building anti-imperialist fronts in the struggle against imperialism, uniting forces, building international cooperation, coordination and solidarity, and developing the international struggle at the political level. The workers and oppressed of the world can respond to the danger of a third imperialist war of division, which is growing with the increasing crises of imperialism, by taking advantage of the inter-imperialist contradictions, and turn them into an opportunity for revolutionary tactics, provided that they do not engage in any bourgeois pole.
